Company History
The founders of WELIS, LLC have been providing software for the insurance industry since 1980. The current team was formed in 1998 while developing a proprietary illustration system for a large US Insurer. That system was very well received by marketers and agents in the field, and is still used today by that carrier to illustrate all of its insurance products.
WELIS, LLC began operations in January of 2000. The WELIS team designed and implemented the Ascent illustration system using state-of-the-art technologies and the combined practical experience of its principals.
Pacific Life has licensed the system (private-labeled Navigator) for use in all of its Life distribution channels and markets. Navigator has been implemented on both the desktop and the web and it has been extremely successful.
In 2004, AXA-Equitable (now named Equitable) licensed the system, labeled AEGIS, to replace its obsolete platform and upgrade its illustration capability. AEGIS is used for all Equitable life insurance illustration needs.
In 2005, Prudential Financial licensed the system (labeled PruBenefit Weaver) for use in its COLI and Group Life markets.
In 2006, Nationwide licensed Ascent (labeled COLI Illustrator) for use in its COLI markets.
In 2007, Sun Life licensed Ascent (SunSolutions Ascent) for use in a variety of markets.
In 2009, Nationwide expanded its Ascent license to include all retail life insurance products (UL, VUL, Survivorship, Whole Life, Term). The retail system is named Life Illustrator.
In 2011, WELIS was awarded a RAVE award for its Ascent product in the illustrations category.
In 2011, Penn Mutual licensed the system (labeled Life Solutions Illustrator) for use with retail life insurance products (Whole Life, Index, UL & VUL, Term, single life & survivorship).
In 2012, Teachers Insurance Annuity Association and its subsidiary TIAA-CREF Life Insurance Company licensed the system (labeled Intelligent Illustration System) for use with the retail life insurance products sold through the M Financial Group.
In 2013, the M Financial Group licensed the system (labeled Genesis) for use with its proprietary suite of private placement products.
In 2013, Guardian Life Insurance Company licensed the system (labeled Guardian Proposal System) for use with its retail life insurance products.
In 2014, Teachers Insurance Annuity Association and its subsidiary TIAA-CREF Life Insurance Company expanded their license to include all retail life insurance and annuity products.
In 2015, Modern Woodmen of America released the system (labeled Illustrate it!) for use with its life insurance and annuity products.
In 2015, Penn Mutual expanded its Life Solutions Illustrator license to include Fixed, Fixed Indexed, and Variable Annuities.
In 2016, Axcelus International released the system (labeled Aslan) for use with its U.S. life insurance and annuity products.
In 2016, Symetra Life Insurance Company licensed the system (labeled Symetra LIFE Illustrator) for use with its retail life insurance products.
In 2017, Principal Financial Group released the system (labeled NQ Solutions Illustration System) for use in its Corporate Owned Life Insurance markets.
In 2019, MassMutual licensed the system (labeled Forge) for use in its Institutional markets.
In 2020, Principal Financial Group expanded its license to include its suite of Retail life insurance products and renamed the system Principal Life Insurance System.
In 2020, WELIS was awarded the 2020 XCelent Award for Depth of Customer Service.
In 2020, Symetra expanded its Life Illustrator license to include Annuity products.
In 2021, Guardian expanded its Guardian Proposal System license to include a full suite of Annuity products.
In 2021, Catholic Order of Foresters licensed the system for use with its life insurance and annuity products.
In 2023, Transamerica licensed the system (labeled Transamerica Life Illustrator) for use with its retail life insurance products.
In 2023, New York Life released the system for use in its COLI and BOLI markets.
WELIS maintains strong, long-term relationships with its customers while seeking to expand its clientele at a sustainable rate.
